HYI was created to fill a gap we saw in our communities: the lack of consistent mentorship, honest conversation, and early life skill development among young people.
We’ve seen firsthand how quickly youth can lose their sense of direction when they don’t have someone to guide them especially in an age where social media, peer pressure, and outside influence shape their self-worth before they truly know who they are.
Too often, mentorship and support are offered only when it’s “too late” — when a young person is already struggling. We believe in starting earlier, by meeting youth where they are and teaching them how to navigate challenges before they become crises.
HYI exists to show youth that they are capable, valuable, and not alone. We build programs that go beyond academics. Programs that strengthen emotional intelligence, confidence, and critical thinking.
We also address real-world challenges: from mental health and online safety to bullying and human trafficking awareness / equipping youth with the tools and understanding to protect themselves and others.
Our team is made up of mentors, educators, artists, and community leaders who bring not only professional expertise but lived experience. We know that the best lessons come from those who have walked similar paths and are willing to share their truth.
We believe awareness saves lives — but connection changes them.
That connection — between youth and mentors, between schools and communities, between effort and growth — is where lasting change begins.
